Baroness Thatcher was today honoured with a sombre but spectacular funeral ceremony that paid tribute to the ‘courage and perseverance’ of Britain's greatest peacetime prime minister.
The Iron Lady's daughter Carol wept as she said a final goodbye to her mother, and was comforted by her twin brother Sir Mark and his wife Sarah as they arrived for the private service at Mortlake Crematorium.
Earlier, under the great dome of St Paul's Cathedral, the Queen joined dignitaries from 170 countries worldwide, friends, political foes and Lady Thatcher's closest family members to celebrate the life of the UK's first and only female premier.

London's streets were also packed with mourners who broke into spontaneous applause and gave cheers and whistles of support as the coffin passed by.


The emotional crowds threw white roses in the path of the gun carriage that carried Lady Thatcher through the capital, while many of the 2,300 inside St Paul's openly sobbed with Chancellor George Osborne 'overwhelmed'.


Outside on the streets, the predicted protests and disorder failed to materialise, with the few boos drowned out by supporters' applause.

As Big Ben once again started to chime after the 11am service, the procession started its final journey. At exactly 4.30pm, the coffin bearing grocer’s daughter Margaret Hilda Roberts, who rose to become Baroness Thatcher of Kesteven, arrived at Mortlake crematorium. Her ashes are due to be interred at the Royal Hospital Chelsea next to those of her beloved husband Denis, who died in 2003.

The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh attendance the St Paul's service broke with Royal protocol, as it was the Monarch's first political funeral since Sir Winston Churchill's in 1965.

Her Majesty joined Lady Thatcher's family on the steps to watch a hearse take the former premier's body away from the grandeur and solemnity of the official funeral to a private cremation at Mortlake in south-west London.
The funeral cortege arrived at 4.30pm while dozens of onlookers lined the street and applauded as the coffin entered through the crematorium gates, which were guarded by two police officers.

Another two police officers saluted as the hearse went into the grounds, followed by two Jaguar cars and a Range Rover.

Two coaches carrying guests had arrived at the crematorium half an hour earlier.

But it was the Bishop of London raised eyebrows with his address, referring to the Tolpuddle Martyrs and how Lady Thatcher was just an ordinary woman.

The Right Reverend Richard Chartres said: 'After the storm of a life led in the heat of political controversy, there is a great calm. The storm of conflicting opinions centres on the Mrs Thatcher who became a symbolic figure - even an ism.

'Today the remains of the real Margaret Hilda Thatcher are here at her funeral service.

'Her upbringing was in the Methodism to which this country owes a huge debt. When it was time to challenge the political and economic status quo in nineteenth century Britain, it was so often the Methodists who took the lead. The Tolpuddle Martyrs, for example, were led not by proto-Marxists but by Methodist lay preachers.'

The Tolpuddle Martyrs were a group of six agricultural labourers from the village of Tolpuddle who founded the very first trade union movement in protest at the lowering of their wages. They were convicted of contravening the obscure law of swearing a secret oath and transported to Australia for seven years.

Charlize: The Token Matte Celeb

Charlize is one celeb who adores matte makeup looks. In fact, I’d say it is her signature look. Here she has a matte canvas and a nude matte lip paired with a shimmery eyeshadow. Using a light-colored eyeshadow similar to those in the 88 Shimmer palette in the inner ducts opens your eyes and make you appear more awake. Applying a shimmery, copper-based eyeshadow to the lids adds warmth as well as dimension. Although Charlize did some mixing here, I feel she could have done more to make this look “pop.” She could easily add more bronzer or even a highlight for a more luminous look.

Had someone told me that I’d one day be lying in Harvey Nichols with my face slathered in sheep placenta, I’d have shuddered in disgust and told them they were mad. But now, my face covered in the very same goop, it’s my own sanity I’m questioning. I blame Victoria Beckham and Simon Cowell. They’re among a host of A-listers who swear by this bizarre treatment for keeping their skin wrinkle-free and glowing.

Here goes! Claire Coleman was once repulsed by the idea of a sheep placenta facial but the band of A-listers who swear by it tempted her to give it a go

Unsurprisingly, the buzz (or should that be the baa?) started in LA, at the swanky Rodeo Drive clinic of dermatologist Dr Harold Lancer, who counts stars including Simon and Victoria among his clientele.

Now, however, you don’t have to fly to the U.S. to get your sheep placenta fix, as the treatment has just arrived at the Beyond MediSpa clinics inside Harvey Nichols in London and Edinburgh.

The facial — which costs a staggering £185 for an hour and 15 minutes — combines the same sheep-derived lotions and potions used by Dr Lancer with microdermabrasion (which exfoliates the skin and blasts away dead cells), a mask, red light therapy (to boost circulation and collagen production), and a fair amount of yuck factor, too.

Anticipating something that smelled of farmyards, I screwed my eyes shut and held my breath, but the gruesomeness conjured up by my overactive imagination was far worse than the reality.



Technical: The facial combines the same sheep-derived lotions and potions used by Dr Lancer with microdermabrasion, a mask, red light therapy and a fair amount of yuck factor, too.

Stem Cell Concentrate (£225 for 24ml), a blend of sheep placenta and the hydrating agent hyaluronic acid, turns out to be a thin, clear liquid that smells faintly — and inexplicably — of vinegar.

After my face has been thoroughly cleansed, sandblasted and treated to a moisturising mask, therapist Natasha applies a layer of the concentrate and then uses two metal paddles to shine red light onto my face. It’s all utterly painless, if a little weird.

You might be asking yourself ‘why placenta?’. The selling point, according to Stem Cell Beauty Innovations (SCBI) the company behind the products, lies in the fact that research has shown that the placenta and umbilical cord of mammals contain stem cells which have the ability to repair every type of cell in the body.

SCBI says that its products contain a trademarked ingredient called O-Placenta, ‘the most nutrient-rich and potent form of ovine placenta extract’. They claim that when applied to the skin O-Placenta can ‘de-age’ it as it revitalises skin cells, kickstarting them into producing increased levels of collagen, protein, and elastin, in the same way youthful skin does.

Dr Preema Vig, medical director of Harvey Nichols’ Beyond MediSpa, is certainly very excited about it.
‘Stem cells are extremely hot news at the moment,’ she says. ‘Medical experts and cosmetologists are exploring their many uses, from giving hope to patients suffering from paralysis to turning back the signs of ageing. And dermatologists report patients’ skin being better hydrated and smoother after regular use of O-Placenta.’

Once I’ve established why I might want to put sheep afterbirth on my face, I turn to thinking about exactly where the stuff comes from. While SCBI is cagey about the provenance of their products, I tracked down Angela Payne, production manager of New Zealand company Agri-Lab, the world’s largest processor of placentas.

‘We process around 20 tonnes of raw sheep placenta every year, transforming it into powder for dietary supplements, or serum used in beauty products,’ she tells me.

The sheep placentas are by-products of the meat and wool industry that would normally be thrown away. Instead, at lambing time, farmers all over New Zealand collect them, pocket the money and presumably laugh themselves silly over stupid, rich and vain women who want to smear sheep placenta over themselves in an effort to turn back time.

Each farm must have a licence to prove the placentas are chemical-free and from animals not treated with antibiotics, but then it’s relatively simple. The farmers collect the placentas in buckets and store them in freezers for the company to pick up at a later date.

‘The raw material is thawed, washed, dissected and goes through a protein extraction process that includes filtration, freeze drying and sterilisation, before it is prepared into a serum,’ explains Angela.

Around 30 placentas go into a litre of serum, which is sold on to manufacturers like SCBI for around £110. Given that just 24ml of the product on my face (which isn’t 100 per cent placenta but is mixed with the hyaluronic acid) sells for £225, that’s a mark-up of more than 8,000 per cent. And it’s not one many experts feel is justified.

Beauty expert Paula Begoun, who devotes her time to debunking the world of skincare, is unequivocal.

‘Stem cells do not work as claimed,’ she says. ‘In fact, they likely have no effect at all because stem cells must be alive to function, and by the time the delicate cells are added to skincare products, they are long dead and, therefore, useless. Currently, there is no published research showing stem cell extracts can affect stem cells in human skin.’

And even if they were active, Dr Bunting points out you’d need to get the cells into the skin, not just sitting on the surface of it. Cosmetic dermatologist Dr Sam Bunting is equally sceptical. ‘Having seen experiments on cell cultures, I know how fragile they are, how they need to be fed and preserved at precisely the right temperature. The idea that they can survive in a pot of cream on a shelf is biologically implausible.’

But if the results are amazing, who cares about the theory? So, post-facial, do I look years younger, wrinkle-free and glowing?

Honestly? I look how I’d hope to after a facial — well-moisturised and a bit more lifted. And I’m pretty convinced that any positive effects I’m seeing are due less to magic stem cells than the potent mix of Natasha’s healing hands with microdermabrasion to blastaway dead skin cells, a moisturising mask that helps plump skin, and red light therapy, known to boost levels of collagen.

Natasha is adamant. ‘My clients rave about the treatments. They’ve had really impressive effects on everything from hydration and fine lines to pigmentation.’



The result: After her ordeal, Claire concludes that there are cheaper, better-proven ways to give your skin a glow than slathering it in sheep placenta

Just as I’m on the verge of dismissing all her clients as suffering from Mad Sheep Disease, I speak to Dr Dan Dhunna of London’s Courthouse Clinics, which specialises in Botox and high-tech beauty treatments.

‘While I don’t think it’s stem cells having an effect, placenta is rich in growth factors and antioxidants which we know have penetrative ability,’ he says. ‘But crucially, it’s also very rich in oestradiol, a form of oestrogen. Hormones can definitely penetrate the skin — some HRT is given in patch form — and oestrogen is crucial for healthy, youthful skin.

‘This is why post-menopausal women whose oestrogen levels have dropped often suffer from skin that lacks suppleness.’While it might not be the shaggy sheep story that I suspected, I still get the feeling we’re being fleeced. There are cheaper, better-proven ways to give your skin a glow than slathering it in sheep placenta.

'THREE DEAD' IN BOSTON MARATHON BLOODBATH: Dozens more seriously injured after TWO explosions go off at finish line

A device has exploded near the finish line at the Boston Marathon, according to early reports. Up to 60 people have been reported injured, dozens of them seriously. Eyewitnesses at the scene said there was a loud explosion and emergency vehicles crowded the scene.

Witness Dave Weigel said via Twitter minutes after the explosion: ‘I saw people’s legs blown off. Horrific. Two explosions. Runners were coming in and saw unspeakable horror.'

A source told MailOnline that there were shotgun shells in the two bombs, which sprayed onlookers and runners with massive amounts of shrapnel.

Competitors and race organizers were crying as they fled the chaos. Bloody spectators were being carried to the medical tent that had been set up to care for fatigued runners. A man was pictured with his lower leg blown off.

'There are a lot of people down,' said one man, whose bib No. 17528 identified him as Frank Deruyter of North Carolina. He was not injured, but marathon workers were carrying one woman, who did not appear to be a runner, to the medical area as blood gushed from her leg.

A Boston police officer was wheeled from the course with a leg injury that was bleeding.

About three hours after the winners crossed the line, there was a loud explosion on the north side of Boylston Street, just before the photo bridge that marks the finish line. Another thunderous explosion could be heard a few seconds later.

Runner Laura McLean of Toronto told the Associated Press that she heard two explosions outside the medical tent.

'There are people who are really, really bloody,' McLean said. 'They were pulling them into the medical tent.'

Cherie Falgoust was waiting for her husband, who was running the race.

'I was expecting my husband any minute,' she said. 'I don't know what this building is ... it just blew. Just a big bomb, a loud boom, and then glass everywhere. Something hit my head. I don't know what it was. I just ducked.'

A spokesman for the Boston Marathon said that the race's headquarters are on lock down.

Train service on the green line between Kenmore and Park suspended, according to the MBTA.

Fergie to Host Voguing Balls for AIDS Research

The expectant mother, singer, and actress announced Friday that she'll be hosting a series of balls celebrating voguing.
The exaggerated form of dance, once described by writer Fran Lebowitz as "institutionalized showing off," came to prominence thanks to the 1991 documentary "Paris Is Burning" and, naturally,Madonna.  

"From the first time I saw the documentary' 

Paris is Burning' to the classic Madonna song 'Vogue,' ... I've been inspired by the voguing culture,” Fergie, who has tapped experienced voguers for BEP shows, said in a statement.

Fergie's effort will see her recruit top dancers from across the country to host fundraising events for prominent AIDS research group amFAR.

This will culminate in Vienna on May 25 for the organization's annual Life Ball. Mrs. Josh Duhamel also intends to make her own documentary about the events and the evolution of voguing culture.

No word on if the "Nine" star will be busting out any moves of her own: Her first little one is due this summer, and could feasibly still be in the oven as mom rolls out the choreographed charity work.

Stanley Osita a.k.a. Stanlee Onz kicked off his music career as early as 11 when he did his first track featuring his elder brother 'Love Doctor'. At 14, STanley Onz joined a group of three which included two girls. He wrote many songs with his newly formed group "Lupianz" who met in Command Secondary School Kaduna. In late 2006, a member of the crew, Zuwaira Mohammed a.k.a. Zutex passed away and this made the group inconsistent as before. The other member, Sha-girl, withdrew from the group and only Stanley Onz remianed in it to push it to another level. Before the sudden departure of Zutex, Lupianz had written down a 7-track album waiting to storm it in Kaduna which featured the hitting track "Love Doctor Remix" featuring Peter Abah a.k.a. Ghetto and "Down da street".

Just around 2007, Stanley Onz partnered with his elder brother, Os-B and joined his record label, MDR Productions and till date, have done many songs under the Label. One of which was "twist blood brothers" under my debut album, Rubber Band. The song was to test which of the two brothers could rap faster. Also featuring many artists in Lead city university where Stanley Onz studied, like Snazzy, Dip-antonio, Syai-B, Tosco, Leomaidaz, Mac Daez, Steereo, and many more. Stanley Onz also produced some of his own songs like "Strictly to Nollywood" a must-hear song.

He is also the overall winner in the CRIC's Got Talent show 2012 held in Cambridge. His performance was outstanding and none compared with what the audience expected. Meet Donald Ndubuisi Nollywood Star.

Donald Ndubuisi Onwuemene is from Onicha-Ugbo, Aniocha North, Delta State, Nigeria. Born in the early 80s, he has four siblings… three brothers and a sister. Popularly referred to as the “Clown” of the family, his earlier days were marked with entertainment traits, ranging from singing, dancing and making comedy to entertain his family. His eventual involvement with the entertainment industry came as no surprise to his family who were already aware of his passion.

Donald attended schools in Lagos, Niger and Edo States respectively; beginning his Primary school in Lagos; Secondary school in Suleja, Niger State and eventually rounding up at Auchi Polytechnic, Edo State, where he studied accountancy. Whilst in school, he delved into Modeling and Event Hosting (M.C.), meeting popular comedians like I-Go-Dye, I-Go-Save and Biggest Ben along his path.

After graduating with his Diploma in Accountancy, he did not go further to enroll for his Higher Diploma because the lure of the Entertainment Industry was too strong to resist. He eventually succumbed to his passion and took up a job as a Radio and Television Presenter with Babiefaze Entertainment in Asaba Delta State. The company was owned by Samantha Adesua Esangbedo. Donald presented a show called Demix – a one hour musical/ interview programme on Delta Broadcasting Service, Asaba. He also presented the MTN Yello half-hour, on Delta Radio from 2005-2006.
