TIP #1: Go Easy on the Eyes. Emerald green is a bold, saturated color, so mixing it with another bold color is too intense. Balance it with a color palette that’s neutral and easier on the eyes. More specifically, in the winter months, I pair it with warm black or gray layers. For spring and summer, it pairs perfectly with white or camel.
TIP #2: Opt for Animal. This healthy hue says green grass and nature to me. That’s probably why it feels natural to pair it with animal prints. Leopard, in particular, is my favorite print to wear with emerald green. These casual flats go perfectly with an emerald green top.
TIP #3: Get Stylish With Stripes. Stripes are currently a huge trend in their own right. This pattern also happens to pair perfectly with emerald green. Just remember to keep the stripes’ color palette neutral to temper the intensity.
TIP #4: Go for the Gold. I love the way emerald green looks with gold — everything from a bright, shiny gold to a brushed gold or even rose gold. Give it a try and grab something gold when you go green.
TIP #5: Aim for Accessories. Remember, emerald green is the Color of the Year this year. There will be a new one next year. That being said, it’s still fun to get in on the game and play with trends. I wouldn’t buy an investment wardrobe staple, like a coat, in this color. But a few simple standout pieces — like a top, accessory, nail polish or shoe — allow you to incorporate the trend without making a huge investment. That way, you’ll be on-trend and on-budget!
